The Perfect Day

I am learning to make my writing more interesting for the reader. I know I will be able to do this when I add more detail, interesting words and include what I see, hear, smell and feel.

It all started at 7:30 in the morning. I heard Dad say. “Alex, time to go camping.” This is going to be the most perfect camping day ever.

I rushed out to get ready to go camping. I grabbed the fishing rods  so we could go fishing. I had to find everything. No camping trip is complete without some fishing. We drove to our camping spot in Motueka.

As soon as we arrived we had to set up the camp before we went fishing. I caught 6 or 7 kingfish, Dad almost caught a stingray and Kimberly caught 3 kingfish. When the fishing was over we went to the hotel.

The hotel smelt like strawberries and vanilla. The  rooms were so beautifully decorated because there was a celebration. Someone was getting married. We listened to the songs and then had a big sleep to get rested for our trip home. Early in the morning we went back home. Then we had a movie night.

  1. Tino pai, Alex. I like the way you have started you story. I would like to know more about the fishing, what was the river like? What were you thinking when you caught the fish?
